Andrew Flakelar is an Australian commercial filmmaker whose directorial style emphasises the emotive connection between subject and audience.

His talents for narrative and visually dynamic storytelling have been the driving force behind campaigns for Gillette, Audi, Nike, Converse, Google, Spotify and others.

Having lived in New York City for over a decade, Andy had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the world: icons such as Jay-Z, Oprah Winfrey, Jon Bon Jovi, Morgan Freeman, Sidney Poitier, Cindy Crawford, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Madonna, David Blaine, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Harrison Ford, Robert DeNiro, Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, Will Smith, Iggy Pop, and Damon Albarn.

HIs immersive short documentary "Beyond the Roadblocks" takes the audience into the chaos of the recent Australian Bushfires. All shot by the filmmaker during his operational role as a firefighter, the film exposes a harrowing and insightful view into the challenges faced by volunteer firefighters throughout the crisis, both physically and psychologically. It screened recently as part of TEDx Sydney.

"The Art of Boxing", an emotive short documentary has screened internationally, including the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles, the Montreal International Black Film Festival, the Bronx International Film Festival and won Best Cinematography at the Bondi Short Film Festival in Sydney, Australia.

Now based in Sydney, Andrew enjoys collaborating on creative projects with a focus on visually dynamic storytelling complementing a strong narrative arc.
